The Artwork of Mini Golf: Miranda July and eight extra artists rethink the sport

Mini golf, a playful but critical pursuit, is a lesson in world-building, a problem which 9 artists in London haven’t been in a position to withstand.

In Battersea, Miranda July, Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley, Delaine Le Bas, Kaylene Whiskey, Saeborg, Natasha Tontey, BKTHERULA, Soda Jerk and Pat Brassington have created interactive golf artworks. The immersive works are a response to mini golf’s historical past, after it was created within the nineteenth century by Scottish ladies who had been excluded from ‘actual’ golf programs however refused to take a seat on the sidelines.

This subversive spirit runs all through, within the holes which incorporate every part from surreal video to fairground video games and fortune-telling.
